Full-Time Position for the 2025–2026 School Year
St. Paul’s Episcopal School | Lakeview, New Orleans

St. Paul’s Episcopal School seeks an experienced and certified full-time teacher to serve as Middle School Spanish Teacher. This teacher fosters a love of the Spanish language and the cultures of Spanish-speaking countries through interactive, engaging, and student-centered instruction.

Key Responsibilities:

Spanish Instruction (Grades 5–8)

• Teach Spanish to students in grades 5 through 8, using developmentally appropriate, interactive, and immersive methods. 5th grade is taught five days a week, 6th-8th grade four days a week.
• Implement an established curriculum that emphasizes fluency, pronunciation, grammar, and cultural understanding.
• Use a variety of instructional strategies, including kinesthetic games, performance-based assessments, skits, cooking lessons, sports activities in Spanish, and/or other cultural explorations.
• Encourage students to apply their Spanish language skills in real-life and creative contexts.
• Assess student progress through class participation, homework, oral and written evaluations, performance-based tasks, and projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field
• Valid elementary or secondary teaching certification (secondary preferred)
• Fluency in Spanish; strong knowledge of Spanish-speaking cultures
• Experience teaching Spanish at the middle school level
• Enthusiasm for working with middle school students and supporting their developmental needs
• Commitment to student-centered, active, and experiential learning
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Ability to integrate technology into instruction (e.g., media lab projects, language apps)
• Collaborative spirit and a growth mindset
