Visitor Services Associate

Summary/Objective:

Reporting to the Museum Services Manager the Visitor Experience Associate is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, sales and support for the Museum.

This is a part-time (8 hours per week) on-site position. Must be available on Sunday.

General Duties

Serve as frontline ambassador for the museum and provide exemplary customer service to all visitors.

·Process admissions, events and membership transactions.

·Sell group admission tickets for all non-education related groups.

·Promote repeat visitation, program participation and museum membership.

·Serve as liaison between visitors and Ogden Museum colleagues.

·Maintain a working knowledge of current exhibitions and promotions.

·Collect visitor data and feedback.

·Ensure gallery guides are printed and available for guest

·Answer visitor services phone, direct calls to appropriate staff members and check voicemail daily.

·Keep desk area clean, organized and stocked.

·Maintain and document items that can be checked out by visitors such as En Choma glasses and sensory backpacks.

·Serve as coverage for Museum Store during staff lunch and breaks.

Education, Experience, & Qualifications

·Excellent communication, verbal, written and computer skills

·Experience with POS and cash handling

·Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays

·Must have well developed organizational skills with attention to detail

·Attendance/Punctuality - Is consistently at work and on time; ensure work responsibilities are covered when absent; arrives at meetings and appointments on time

·Bachelor's degree or other commensurate experience

Commitments

§ All Ogden Museum of Southern Art staff members are required to attend the following mandatory annual events: Magnolia Ball (June) and Oh, What A Night Gala (October).

§Maintain a friendly, respectful, professional, and courteous attitude with all people, including all Ogden Museum of Southern Art team members, Board members, community and philanthropic partners, funders, and vendors.

Physical & Mental Demands

§While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly required to communicate information and ideas effectively so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

§Ability to lift up to 25lbs occasionally and perform light art handling tasks such as packing and shipping ceramics and other fragile items. Capability to climb ladders safely. Range of motion in arms and hands with the ability to use tools such as hammers and power tools.

§Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).

§Read, analyze, and interpret data (emails, memos, letters, etc.).

§Maintain visual attention and mental concentration for significant periods of time.

Work Environment

§This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and various digital devices.

§This is a full-time position; days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 9AM to 5PM. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
