Security Manger
Summary/Objective:Reporting to the Director of Security, the Security Manager is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all visitors, staff, volunteers, works of art and Museum properties. Additionally, the Security Manger assists with the overseeing of security personnel, responds to incidents and alarms, investigates breaches and ensures compliance with relevant regulations.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities: Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. Visitor Interaction & Assistance:
• Act as a professional representative of the Museum to the public and provide professional customer service to visitors
• Greet and welcome visitors, providing general assistance, directions and information about the museum, exhibits and any special events.
• Enforce museum policies and regulations, politely addressing visitors who may be violating rules like touching artwork or using flash photography.
• Become knowledgeable about exhibitions on view and Museum programming Patrol and Monitor
• Maintain a safe and secure environment by patrolling and monitoring the premises and the permanent collection and special exhibition galleries
• Ensure the safety of people, artwork and the museum environment
• Ensure the following of museum rules with both public and staff
• Monitor, control and record all traffic of visitors and staff entering and leaving the building
• Monitor, control and record all traffic of art entering and leaving the building
• Direct traffic and regulate vehicle and pedestrian access at museum entrances.
• Report to Security Management any damage to exhibits, unsafe conditions, unusual occurrences such as minor accidents, perceived suspicious activity or situation/ and other cases requiring additional help or authority
• Follow established procedures for opening and/or closing of the Museum
• Prepare detailed and accurate incident reports for the Security Manager regarding any accidents, security breaches, or unusual occurrences.
Emergency Response:
• Respond promptly and professionally to all emergencies and be prepared to provide emergency assistance in the event of a medical, fire or other emergency situation.
• Conduct or assist with evacuations due to fire or other emergencies, following established protocols.
• Respond promptly and professionally to all alarms, including those that may occur after hours.
• Prepare incident reports when necessary. Other Duties
• Work professionally with other security and facility personnel during shifts
• Become familiar with and follow the protocols and policies outlined in Ogden Museum's Employee Handbook
• Attend monthly Security Department meetings
• Attend all exhibition training sessions
• Work museum events as needed outside of regular museum operating hours, including monitoring attendees, providing security coverage and the occasional setting up and breaking down event areas.
• All Ogden Museum of Southern Art staff members are required to attend the following mandatory annual events: Magnolia Ball (June) and Oh, What A Night Gala (October).
• Perform other security duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays
• Ability to communicate effectively with the general public and use communications equipment.
• Attendance/Punctuality - Is consistently at work and on time; ensure work responsibilities are covered when absent; arrives at meetings and appointments on time
• High School diploma or other commensurate experiencePhysical/Other Requirements
• Must be able to lift 30 pounds and spend time on feet
• Must successfully complete and pass a security background check.
• This role requires dependable transportation and the ability to respond to emergencies onsite at short notice.According to Museum Policy, all staff are evaluated on a 30, 60, 90-day period About Ogden Museum of Southern Art
