About Us:

Spreading the Music is a community-driven music school based in New Orleans with a mission to make music education accessible, joyful, and empowering. We work with students of all ages and levels, focusing not just on music instruction, but also community building, creativity, and the transformative power of music.

Internship Overview:

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and organized student intern who is passionate about music, education, and community engagement. Interns will gain hands-on experience in operations, administration, event planning, and outreach in a vibrant, music-centered environment.

This is an unpaid internship, designed to provide meaningful work experience aligned with your field of study and career interests.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain the school store and front desk operations

• Schedule students and track lessons using online scheduling software (Acuity)

• Assist with general operations and day-to-day administrative tasks

• Support marketing and outreach efforts for group events and community programs

• Help create visual content using Canva and support internal communication via Google Sheets, Docs, and other tools

• Confident, motivated, and eager to learn

• Excellent communicators with strong customer service skills

• Comfortable interacting with the public in person, over the phone, and via email

• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks

• Capable of working both independently and collaboratively

• Passionate about music, education, and making a positive impact in the community
